The death of a contractor in Karnataka has created an uproar in the politics there. All this has happened after the contractor who accused Karnataka Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister KS Eshwarappa of demanding 40 per cent commission for a contract allegedly committed suicide. He has directly blamed the minister for his death in the suicide note.
Actually, this incident is of Tuesday when the body of a contractor named Santosh Patil was found in a lodge in Udupi in the morning. Before his death, Patil has sent some messages saying that he is committing suicide and alleging that Eshwarappa is responsible for his death. Not only this, he also wrote that I request the Prime Minister, Chief Minister and our dear Lingayat leader with folded hands to help my wife and children.
Police said that it could be a case of suicide. It is being told that Santosh Patil had also written a letter to the Prime Minister against Karnataka State Rural Development Minister KS Eshwarappa alleging that the minister and his colleagues were harassing him.
While reacting to this incident, Eshwarappa said that he has no information about the suicide. On the matter of his resignation, he said that the question of resigning does not arise. In the case I have filed against Santosh Patil, we will have to wait for its verdict in the court. I make it very clear that I have done nothing wrong.
Eshwarappa also said that I have no knowledge about it. I don’t know why he wrote my name in the note written before death and why he has accused me. Only he could answer this.
