Nitin Gadkari on Monday laid the foundation stone of five national highways in Karnataka, Belagavi-Sankeshwar bypass, Sankeshwar bypass up to Maharashtra border, Chorla-Jamboki-Belagavi, Vijayapura-Muragundi (NH 548B) and Siddhapura-Vijayapura (NH 561). a) is included. On this occasion, Nitin Gadkari said that I have set a target to develop the road network. All types of development activities depend on road connectivity, so the central government is emphasizing on strengthening roadways in India. During this, he also claimed to lay a network of roads in India at par with America by 2024.
Laying the foundation stone for five 238 km long highways costing Rs 3972 crore, Nitin Gadkari said that these highways will give a boost to inter-state economic activities. During his address, Gadkari also talked about the construction of express corridors at many places in the country. He said that these express corridors will boost economic development and also reduce fuel consumption. During this, the Union Transport Minister also talked about promoting green vehicles to reduce pollution in the country.
During this, the Union Minister said that many areas of Karnataka will be covered under the Bharat Mala-2 project. Gadkari asked Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who was present on the dais, to expedite land acquisition to start new projects. He said that the new road projects would be completed within the stipulated time provided the land was made available by the State Government.
The minister also informed the gathering that express highways would be developed between Bengaluru and Chennai, which would help in covering the distance in just two hours. Similarly, a logistic park is being set up on the project to connect Surat in Gujarat with Chennai, he said.
Gadkari said that water conservation along the highway is also a part of the project under the Jalshakti programme. Speaking on the occasion, Bommai said that electricity generation will also be done from the water flowing along the national highways.
