Shivamogga News: Tension prevails in the town of Shivamogga in Karnataka amid the ongoing hijab controversy. Here the Bajrang Dal worker was murdered, after which tension spread. Stone pelting also took place at many places. As a precaution, the administration has imposed Section 144. SIT has been formed to probe the murder. It is feared that the Hijab controversy could be the reason behind the killing of the Bajrang Dal activist. However, a Karnataka minister has denied this. On Monday, all the schools and colleges in the city have been closed.
A 23-year-old Bajrang Dal worker was murdered on Sunday night. He was rushed to McGann District Hospital in an injured condition where doctors declared him brought dead. According to Karnataka Home Minister Araga Gyanendra, this development has nothing to do with the ongoing hijab controversy in the state. However, he also said that we need to wait for further investigation before reaching any conclusion. Araga Gyanendra also spoke to the victim’s family. He was a tailor with money.
After meeting the family, the minister said, the murder took place on Sunday night at 9:30. The police have got some clues. We will arrest the culprit soon. He appealed to the people to remain calm and said, “We are yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder.” Reserve police is being deployed in Shimoga.
A special team has been formed to probe the murder and rapid action force personnel are being deployed. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai spoke to the Home Minister on Monday and inquired about the status of the investigation. According to sources, Gyanendra told the CM that 4-5 people could be involved in the murder of the youth.
