In the 48th Khajuraho dance festival organized under the aegis of Ustad Alauddin Khan Sangeet and Kala Akademi MP Sanskriti Parishad of MP Government Culture Department, the sixth evening started with Kathak group dance by famous dancer Devika Devendra S Mangalamukhi and colleagues on Muktakashi stage on Friday.
His group presented Amir Khusro’s Re Man Bayan in the style of Kathak of Lucknow Gharana on stage. After this, one tal of the sargam and three talas depicted the tampering of Radha, Krishna and the gopis. In the end a beautiful ghazal Mere Dil Ko Daag Laga Gaye Pe was danced. In the second presentation, Odissi group dance by the artists of Rudraksh Foundation Bhubaneshwar presented Kali Krishna. In which many similarities were told between Krishna and Kali. The dance depicts Krishna as Vishnu and Kali as Shakti. The description of the makeup of Krishna and Kali in the dance was captivating. In the third presentation of the ceremony, a Kathak group dance was presented by dancer Nayanika Ghosh and colleagues. In which the corporeal and formless form of Lord Shiva, the supreme power of the universe, was praised in Raga Yoga and Taal Adchautal. This was followed by a solo dance on the technical aspects of Kathak by Nayanika Ghosh. This is followed by a thumri drawn from the Hindu and Sufiana tradition, in which the heroine treats God as the beloved and man as the lover. It has been told that on the last day of Khajuraho dance festival, Bharatnatyam-Kathak by Shweta Devendra and Kshama Malviya Bhopal, Manipuri group by Tapasya Imphal and Kathak group dance by Shama Bhate and partner Pune will be presented on February 26.
