BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga’s father Preetpal Singh Bagga said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is scared and scared of Tajinder even before becoming the Chief Minister for the first time. Tajinder has always been exposing his mistakes. Kejriwal had also tried to persuade Tajinder to join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), but he did not join the AAP.
Till the time Kejriwal is in power or does not improve, it will continue like this. I have not spoken to Tajinder and he does not have any phone. He said that we are happy that Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed not to take coercive action against Tajinder.
Even after the political drama that lasted from Friday morning till late night regarding the arrest of Tajinder Bagga, the matter does not seem to be calming down yet. However, Punjab and Haryana High Court has given immediate relief to Tajinder and directed not to take coercive action against him till May 10. At the same time, in the case of arrest of Tajinder Bagga by Punjab Police without turban and alleged assault with his father, the National Commission for Minorities has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Punjab seeking a report within 7 days.
No coercive step should be taken against Bagga: High Court
The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Saturday night directed that no coercive action be taken against Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga. Earlier, the Delhi BJP leader had filed a petition in the High Court seeking a stay on the arrest warrant issued by a Mohali court earlier in the day. Bagga had moved the High Court challenging it, hours after the Punjab Police issued an arrest warrant by a Mohali court in connection with a case registered against him last month.
Justice Anoop Chitkara heard Bagga’s plea on urgent grounds just before midnight at his residence. Bagga’s lawyer Chetan Mittal said on the High Court’s order that no coercive steps would be taken till May 10.
The High Court will consider Bagga’s plea on May 10, seeking quashing of the FIR lodged against him last month. He said the court has stayed the arrest warrant. Mittal said that the hearing lasted for about 45 minutes. Earlier in the day, the court of Judicial Magistrate Ravesh Inderjit Singh had issued an arrest warrant against Bagga in a case registered last month.
The Punjab Police had registered a case against Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga for making provocative statements, promoting enmity and making criminal intimidation. The case was registered on the complaint of Mohali resident Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sunny Ahluwalia. The FIR registered on April 1 refers to Bagga’s remarks of March 30, which he made during a BJP Yuva Morcha protest outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.
A case was registered against Bagga under sections 153-A, 505 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. Bagga was arrested by the Punjab Police on Friday from his Delhi residence. However, the policemen who were taking Bagga to Punjab were stopped in Haryana, after which the Delhi Police brought them back to Delhi.
