As part of Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, the play ‘Udhar Ka Pati’ was staged by Veena Pani Kala Mandir on Saturday evening at Rangayan of Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK). No. Wash. The play, written by Tamhankar and translated by Vanmala Bhawalkar, was directed by renowned theater artist Tapan Bhatt. The story of the play revolves around the heroine, Sheela, how she has to tell a hundred lies to cover up one lie and then a lot of gimmicks to prove those lies.
In the play, the heroine Sheela also told a lie and to prove it right in front of her grandfather, she rolled so many papads that her husband and the rest of the family members were killed. The extent was reached when the matter reached the police. Then how Sheela and her husband come out of this trap and how did she have to speak the truth in the end. The play ‘Borrow Ka Pati’ was based on all this fabric.
It was shown in the play that the heroine of the play Sheela and her husband Ashok had a love marriage, due to which Sheela’s grandfather was very angry. Sheela, despite living in deprivation, pretends to be rich in front of her friend. When Grandfather comes to visit Sheela, she borrows everything to prove her pretense of richness, even her husband Ashok, when Dada refuses to meet her, she borrows a husband too. and turns her real husband into a cooking chef. This is followed by a series of dramas, excuses and lying, which ends with telling the truth and Sheela is very embarrassed and accepts when she learns that Grandpa knew everything. That under no circumstances should one resort to lies.
The play featured Vishal Bhatt as Grandfather, Jhilmil as Sheela, Dr. Saurabh Bhatt as Ashok and Abhishek Jhankal as Naresh, Borrow’s husband. Annapurna Sharma as Padosan Shobha, Shahrukh Khan and Chitransh Mathur played the role of policemen. At the same time, the role of Rita was played by Aarushi and the role of servant Panchu was played by Kamlesh Chandani. The lighting arrangement in the play was done by Dr. Ghanshyam Beniwal, music effect was by Mahmood Ali and the form decoration was by Ravi Banka.
