Islamabad. Maryam Nawaz, vice-president of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has said that the time of Prime Minister Imran Khan is over. His defeat is certain. Addressing a gathering of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in Islamabad on Monday, Maryam launched a scathing attack on the prime minister, criticizing his economic, governance and foreign policies, Geo News reported.
Earlier, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and PML-N chairman Shahbaz Sharif moved a no-confidence motion against Khan in the lower house – making him the third prime minister in Pakistan’s history to face the move.
While Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) have parted ways from the government, PML-Q’s Tariq Bashir Cheema has also announced that he will not vote in favor of the prime minister.
In her address on Monday, Maryam said the opposition rally in Islamabad has been organized to bid goodbye to the prime minister, as he has lost the confidence of not only the National Assembly but also his own party.
Vice President of PML-N said that today under the leadership of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, we have gathered here to bid you farewell.
According to Geo News, he said that Khan is a selfish person as he used his party members to save his ‘sinking ship’.
Maryam said that the prime minister instead of leaving office sacrificed Usman Buzdar, forcing him to resign as the chief minister of Punjab province.
Earlier on Monday, a delegation of PML-Q met Khan at his official residence Bani Gala, where Chaudhry Pervez Elahi was later offered the Punjab Chief Minister’s office.
The PML-Q leader has accepted the offer. The party may support the prime minister in a no-confidence motion, but Cheema’s vote hangs in the balance due to her reservation.
Maryam said that no one is more selfish than Imran Khan. They have used the money of disgruntled PTI leaders Jehangir Tareen and Aleem Khan for their own benefit.
