new Delhi . The Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has reconstituted the board and nominated eight members for three years.
The new members are Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishweshwaranand Giriji Maharaj from Mumbai, Neelam Sareen from Jammu, former IPS Ashok Bhan, former IAS Baleshwar Rai, K.K. Sharma of AIMIL Pharmaceuticals Ltd., former Judge Suresh Kumar Sharma, Raghu K. of Jammu. Mehta, and Kul Bhushan Ahuja of New Delhi.
Sharma told -AnyTV News that we will take steps to make Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage more hassle-free and to ensure the satisfaction of the devotees on board arrangements.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board was established in August 1986 under the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Act 1988, which came into force on 30th August, 1986.
The board was created in 1986 and the model has been followed for the management of temples and shrines across India.
One of the most sacred Hindu temples, Vaishno Devi, is located in the town of Katra in Jammu district.
The temple is situated at an altitude of 5,200 feet, about 12 km from Katra.
The number of pilgrims at the shrine stood at over 55.77 lakh in 2021 as against 17 lakh last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
