The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that India and Bhutan ‘share a unique and enduring partnership, which is rooted in mutual trust, understanding and goodwill.’ According to the statement, Prime Minister Modi will pay a state visit to Bhutan from March 21 to 22.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, “This visit of Prime Minister Moda is in line with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Bhutan and the government’s emphasis on the ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy.
The statement said that during his visit, Prime Minister Modi will meet Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and his father Jigme Singye Wangchuck (former King of Bhutan).
Officials said Modi will also meet Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay.
