The DG of the Meteorological Department has told that Biparjoy is away from the Indian coasts and in such a situation it has not been directly affected. Yes, indirectly, strong winds may start blowing along the Gujarat coast. In such a situation, we are advising fishermen not to venture into the Central Arabian Sea till June 13 and into the North Arabian Sea till June 15.
He said that at present the cyclone is 830 km south-southwest of Porbandar district. It is moving northwards and will continue to move for next 5 days. During this time it is likely to remain in the sea, it will not reach the shores. The wind speed is likely to be 60-70 kmph along Gujarat coast on June 14-15.
The wind speed will be highest in the center of the cyclone, which is currently 125-130 kmph. It can increase to 160 kmph. Due to the speed of the winds, strong waves can arise in the sea. In such a situation, instructions have been issued in terms of security.
It is predicted that due to the cyclone, there may be rain in the coastal areas including South Gujarat and Saurashtra. On the other hand, 15 teams of NDRF and 11 teams of SDRF have been kept ready for relief work in Gujarat.
