new Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Monday gave a notice in the Rajya Sabha during Zero Hour, demanding the central government to release the film The Kashmir Files on YouTube and Doordarshan.
The proceedings of the second phase of the budget session of Parliament are also continuing in both the houses on Monday. MP Sanjay Singh gave zero hour notice in Rajya Sabha and said that The Kashmir Files should be made available free of cost, for this the film should be released on YouTube.
Sanjay Singh said in his notice that every Indian has the right to know about the suffering of Kashmiri Pandits. The circumstances and accidents they have to deal with are unimaginable and gruesome.
“There is a need for the country to face every incident that happened to Kashmiri Pandits. Therefore, I request you that the government should take the trouble of getting The Kashmir Files, a film on Kashmiri Pandits, aired on YouTube and Doordarshan. I also request that the wounds should not be healed by just scraping history, but every effort should be made to rehabilitate those Kashmiri Pandits. I want to give my one year MP fund for the rehabilitation of all of them and also appeal to other MPs to donate their one year MP fund for the rehabilitation of their Kashmiri brothers.
Sanjay Singh said that the film has earned around Rs 200 crore so far and the government itself has promoted it. Therefore, all the earnings of this film should be used for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits for the benefit of the society.
Earlier on this issue, Sanjay Singh had said that, in 1989, when Pandits were thrown out of the state, the BJP was part of the government. When Pandits were being beaten up and forced to leave, you (BJP) were part of the government and you were silent. History cannot be forgotten, Jagmohan, a member of your party, was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
It is worth noting that these days, the English film Kashmir Files film is going on a period of rhetoric among political parties across the country. The film is based on the painful story of the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. Many political parties allege that BJP is promoting this film.
