Kerala, which is facing discord once again after the defeat in the elections of five states, has increased the troubles of the Congress. The Congress is in a position to win the lone Rajya Sabha seat in the state and for that the high command has nominated party secretary Srinivasan Krishnan. There has been a ruckus in the state unit regarding this. The state unit leaders are upset with this and the leadership has been told that they will not accept it. It has been said on behalf of the State Unit that the proposal sent by them should have been given importance. State President K. Sudhakaran has told the party leadership that he wishes that a young leader should get a chance.
Revolt in Congress escalated, many leaders including Hooda and Tharoor join G-23; raised this demand
The name of M. Liju was suggested by the state unit, who was the state president of Youth Congress. At present, he has the responsibility of District President of Alappuzha district. Sudhakaran said that this decision was taken by the high command on Friday. Many other state leaders are also supporting K Sudhakaran’s opinion against this decision. Last week, senior leader KV Thomas also met Sonia Gandhi to claim the Rajya Sabha seat. But the state unit said that a young leader should get a chance.
There was also a proposal that a woman leader should be sent to the Upper House. The reason for this is that no woman leader from Kerala has been in the Rajya Sabha in the last 5 decades. But there is anger among the leaders over the proposal of 58-year-old Srinivasa Krishnan. Krishnan is considered close to Priyanka Gandhi and her husband Robert Vadra. His name was suggested by the high command, to which the state unit has expressed deep objection. Hailing from Thrissur, Kerala, Krishnan is in charge of Telangana and is also part of the board of directors of companies owned by Robert Vadra.
Senior leader said – maybe Congress does not want to learn from mistakes
A senior leader told Hindustan Times on condition of anonymity, “It seems that the party still does not want to learn from its mistakes. We will no longer allow nomination politics. A leader of the state should be sent to the Rajya Sabha. No nominated leader should get this chance. Even senior leader K. Muraleedharan has even written a letter to Sonia Gandhi against it. He said in the letter that such a leader should not be sent to the Rajya Sabha, who has lost in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
