New Delhi. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented a budget of over Rs 1.42 lakh crore for Jammu and Kashmir in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The Finance Minister presented the budget of Jammu and Kashmir for the financial year 2022-23 in the House amid protests by opposition leaders including Congress MP Manish Tewari. Leaders of the opposition were demanding more time to discuss the budget.
Manish Tewari said, “While rejecting Article 370, the central government had said that in this way Jammu and Kashmir will be emotionally connected with the whole country and the pace of development will be accelerated there.” After 33 months of this, if I ask the question of the government whether it has been successful in achieving both its goals, then my answer will be no. The law and order situation there was sensitive in the year 2019 and it is sensitive in 2022 as well.
He also asked when will Jammu and Kashmir get statehood back. He also demanded a provision for representation of minority Sikhs in the House.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the abrogation of Article 370 and said that the pace of development has accelerated in the Union Territory since August 2019.
Trinamool Congress leader Saugata Ray termed the budget an expense of bureaucracy and said that he was opposing the abrogation of Article 370 in the past and will continue to do so. This was a wrong step and the country will have to bear the brunt of it in future. Only BJP’s agenda has been fulfilled by this.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh asked whether Congress makes a promise in the House that when it comes to power, it will bring back Article 370.
