At present, the whole world including India is battling the COVID-19 infection. Every country is making every effort for the safety of its citizens and people are also being screened if they show any symptoms of corona, but people are not only in India but also in countries around the world to take the COVID-19 test. A lot of difficulties are being faced regarding this. To mitigate this problem, a team of scientists from the University of California has invented a new technique called COVID-19 testing. Using this technology, people will now be able to test COVID-19 through a smartphone.
According to the information, the scientific group developing the testing technology says that the accuracy of the new testing system of COVID-19 test is equal to PCR test. All you need to use it is a smartphone, an app, and some basic lab tools. Describing this new test system of COVID-19, a scientific team from the University of California has published a paper in the JAMA Network Open Journal. A new method for testing COVID-19 is called smaRT-LAMP (loop-mediated isothermal amplification). It will cost you less than $100 to set up this complete test system. For this you must have a smartphone.
For that you’ll first need simple equipment such as a hot plate, a reactive solution, and a smartphone to fit into the test kit. Then download a free app called Bacticount on your smartphone. The saliva of the person to be tested should be loaded into a test kit on top of a hot plate. which is added to the reacting solution. This process is called loop-mediated isothermal amplification, or LAMP. The sample is then placed in a cardboard box with an LED mounted on top.
The sample taken will then be visible from the smartphone’s camera at the top of the box and when the color of the liquid starts to change, it will be notified whether the test is negative or positive. If pathogens are present in your sample, it will start to turn red, the more pathogens are present, the quicker the Bacticount app will flash. Based on the speed of change in the color of the saliva sample, the effect of the infection of the person can be estimated.
