Operation Ganga Updates: As the war between Russia and Ukraine intensifies, it is becoming more and more difficult for Indian citizens trapped there to get out. Giving the latest information about the government’s efforts in this matter, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that more than 20,000 Indian nationals have left Ukraine after our first advisory was issued. So far 48 flights have reached India carrying about 10,348 Indians from Ukraine under Operation Ganga. There are 16 more flight schedules in the next 24 hours. He told that after 16 flights reach India in the next 24 hours, almost all such Indians, who have crossed the Ukraine border and reached neighboring countries, will reach India. We will continue to schedule flights in future as well.

But some people are still feared trapped in Ukraine. Especially in the cities of eastern Ukraine like Kharkiv and Pishochin, it is becoming difficult to rescue the stranded Indians. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, about 1000 Indians are stranded in Pisochin and more than 700 Indians in Sumy. Let us tell you that the Russian army first attacked in these areas and the borders of countries like Romania, Poland are far away from here. A spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs said that we are trying to conduct a ceasefire at the local level, so that the people trapped here can be evacuated. Also, some buses have been arranged in these cities. 5 buses have already been engaged in this work, and some more buses are being arranged.

The Indian Foreign Ministry said that we had requested the Ukrainian authorities for special trains but no response has come so far. Indian authorities have also evacuated a Bangladeshi national from there, while a similar request has been received from Nepal. The Ministry of External Affairs also dismissed reports of an Indian being held captive in Kharkiv.
