Dehradun. Uttarakhand Police is going to start Operation Maryada once again. Police will start operation from Thursday in all the districts to teach dignity to the undefeated people at pilgrimage and tourist places. This operation will continue for three months till the Kanwar Mela. Under the operation, the police will be strict on those who spread dirt, riot and consume drugs. Last year on the instructions of DGP Ashok Kumar, the police had launched Operation Maryada. The operation which started for one month was later extended by one more month. During this, the police had taken action against the local and tourists coming from outside. These were the tourists who used to indulge in infrequent activities at tourist places. The maximum action was taken by Haridwar and Dehradun police. Seeing the success of the campaign, DGP Ashok Kumar has given instructions to all the districts through video conferencing on Wednesday.
Under this, people who consume intoxicants around the pilgrimage sites will be arrested immediately. Apart from this, people who spread riots and dirt will be challaned under the Police Act and other sections. This time Kanwar Mela is starting from 14th July.
The DGP has instructed all the police captains to be alert for the upcoming monsoon season as well. He said that from now on the police should identify the areas prone to floods, landslides, water logging in monsoon season. In the wake of the disaster, necessary preparations should be done on the sensitive areas from now, so that an action plan can be made to deal with the disaster in time.
There are incidents of fire in the forests every day. Every day hundreds of hectares of forest are getting burnt. In such a situation, it is necessary that the police should also keep an eye around the forests during patrol, so that if any mischievous element is roaming here, then action can be taken. Many times the fire in the forest is caused by someone’s carelessness. A case should be registered against such people immediately.
