new Delhi. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has described Kashmir as many times better than Switzerland and said that no one will remain poor if tourism increases in the state.
Referring to several projects being run by the Indian government in Jammu and Kashmir, Gadkari said in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that Kashmir is a paradise and the central government is doing a lot of work for its development. Referring to the Zojila Tunnel being built in the state, he said that through this he also got the privilege of seeing the paradise of Kashmir. Addressing former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, who was present in the Lok Sabha, he said that his ministry is doing work worth Rs 60 thousand crore in the state. At present, one thousand people are working inside the Zojila Tunnel, that too in minus one degree temperature.
Responding to a discussion on the Demands for Grants under the control of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for the Union Budget year 2022-23, Gadkari told the Lok Sabha that the Zojila Tunnel was due to be completed by 2026, but it should be completed before 2024. Will give He also mentioned about 5 other tunnels being built in this area. Referring to the road projects being built in the state, he claimed that by the end of this year, Mumbai would be accessible from Srinagar in just 20 hours.
Referring to the beauty of Kashmir, Gadkari also urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to visit the Zojila Tunnel along with a delegation of MPs.
