Pakistan’s state-run PTV has sacked 17 employees for not covering Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s speech. All this happened when Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was on Lahore visit recently. Interestingly, the reason given for not covering the Prime Minister’s speech was that there is no advanced laptop.
In fact, according to Pakistani media reports, this incident happened when Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was in Lahore last week. During this he visited Kot Lakhpat Jail and Ramzan Bazaar. It was told that usually, a VVIP team of journalists, and editors is responsible for the coverage of PM’s events.
The Dawn reported in a report that since it is a VVIP team, it is equipped with the latest gadgets. Including laptop for live streaming and timely uploading of footage of any incident. This core team is stationed in Islamabad and accompanies the Prime Minister at home and abroad. PTV was informed about this visit before PM Shahbaz Sharif’s visit to Lahore.
Despite this, it had happened. At present, taking action after the incident, the PTV administration has fired a total of 17 officials including VVIP coverage deputy controller Imran Bashir Khan. Apart from this, the administration has also suspended various engineers and cameramen for alleged neglect.
