Jammu. The Indian Army on Wednesday handed over a civilian who inadvertently crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district to Pakistani authorities. Defense sources said the army on Tuesday deported a resident of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
According to the statement, Mahmud Hussain, son of Shah Wali, a resident of village Kotli, had inadvertently entered the Indian border from Manjakot tehsil on April 28. This area is under the supervision of Bhimber Gali Brigade.
During detailed interrogation, it was found that Mahmud Hussain has inadvertently crossed the LoC and entered Indian territory.
“After this a message was sent and contact was established with Pakistan Army through hotline. Details about the said person were shared with them and it was decided to send him back with his family at the earliest,” the official said. “
“Upon mutual consent, the man was handed over to the Pakistan Army at the Chakan-da-Bagh crossing point, which was opened yesterday at 12.39 pm,” the sources said.
