Pakistan on Sunday extended by two more months the period for sending 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat and life-saving medicines through the Attari-Wagah border post from India as humanitarian aid to war-torn Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office said that the deadline for providing humanitarian aid expired on March 21 and the Indian government had recently requested an extension of the deadline to complete the aid delivery process.
“As part of our sincere efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, it has been decided to give two more months to complete the process of transportation,” the office said.
In November 2021, Pakistan had given permission to send 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat and life-saving medicines from India to Afghanistan via the Wagah border as humanitarian aid.
