The Pakistan government has allowed 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat and medicines from India to Afghanistan to pass through its soil. The Pakistan Foreign Ministry said that the first batch of Afghan trucks entered Pakistan via Torkham and reached the Attari-Wagah border. The batch is returning to Afghanistan on Wednesday after loading Indian aid.
The departure comes after India on Tuesday flagged off the first convoy of 50 trucks carrying 25,000 metric tonnes of wheat aid. The people of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in New Delhi thanked the government and the people of India for their timely help of 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat-medicines. The Embassy of Afghanistan said, these days our country is facing great food insecurity.
