At least three Pakistani soldiers have been killed and five injured in a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terror attack in Miran Shah city of North Waziristan, Pakistan. The terror attack comes amid TTP’s efforts to step up its fight against Pakistani forces since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in August last year.
According to news agency ANI, Tehreek-e-Taliban is distributing pamphlets to the people of Khost province of Afghanistan to support their ‘Jihad’ in Pakistan. The TTP has been fighting the Pakistan regime since 2007. In this episode, TTP killed three Pakistani soldiers in a terrorist attack in Miran Shah city of Pakistan. Five others were injured in the attack.
According to the International Forum for Rights and Security (IFFRAS), the Taliban is unlikely to take any action to curb the TTP, raising the possibility of more attacks along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border along the Durand Line.
According to IFFRAS, it was feared that the Taliban would not allow the TTP to launch attacks on Pakistan. According to reports, there are 3,000-5,000 fighters in Afghanistan, many of whom are family members of terrorists who want to resettle in Pakistan.
Pak government does not want to talk to TTP
Last month, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that talks with the TTP could not go ahead despite the Taliban’s help, admitting that the terrorist group had halted its attacks across the country after a months-long ceasefire. It has started again from 9th December last year.
For the first time, Pakistan’s Imran government accused the Afghan regime of allowing terrorist groups to operate on its soil. According to Islamabad-based think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, at least 388 people were killed and 600 others injured in terrorist attacks in Pakistan in 2021.
