Jammu, December 14 (IANS)| Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) wanted Pakistani terrorist Abu Jarrar was gunned down by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Tuesday. Police sources said that Abu Jarrar of Lashkar-e-Taiba was killed in an ongoing encounter at Bafliaz village of Surankote in Poonch district.
“He was on the wanted list of the security forces. The area where the encounter is going on is a densely forested area,” he said. “Additional forces have been sent to cordon off the area as one more terrorist is likely to be hiding there,” he said.
“Abu Zarar was active in Rajouri and Poonch districts. An AK-47 rifle, four magazines, a grenade and some Indian currency have been recovered from the possession of the slain terrorist,” the sources said. Acting on specific information about the presence of terrorists, a joint team of police and army cordoned off the area and after launching a search operation, the encounter broke out. As the security forces reached the spot where the terrorists were hiding, they came under heavy fire, triggering an encounter.
