Chennai. The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), the political wing of the powerful Vanniyar community in northern Tamil Nadu, called on Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to create 1 lakh government jobs to reduce unemployment and help people secure their lives. PMK’s founding leader Dr. S. In a statement on Sunday, Ramdas said the state could take a lesson from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann, who announced soon after taking oath that his government would create 25,000 new government jobs.
The PMK leader said that the economy of Punjab is debt-ridden and very small as compared to Tamil Nadu, and hence creating 1 lakh government jobs for the benefit of unemployed youth will not be a difficult proposition for the state of Tamil Nadu.
He said the DMK’s election promise was to create more government jobs and fill vacancies in state government bodies. The founding leader of PMK said that the government is duty bound to fulfill its election promise and provide employment to more youth in the government sector.
Ramdas called on Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to provide permanent jobs to part-time lecturers and teachers in government colleges and schools.
He also urged Stalin to make the announcement in the current session of the state assembly.
Notably, the PMK which had contested the 2019 general elections and 2021 assembly elections together with the AIADMK, contested on its own in both rural elections and urban local body elections in nine districts. The DMK knows that if it forges an alliance with the PMK, the party will benefit in northern Tamil Nadu.
