The Supreme Court overturned the government’s decision to dissolve the House and reinstated the National Assembly. Contrary to the orders of the Supreme Court, Fawad said that the vote on the no-confidence motion against the PM may be shifted to the coming week instead of today.
Talking to the media, Fawad Chaudhary has said that we will not take much time. Before the discussion on the no-confidence motion, the Foreign Secretary will inform the House about the threat letter. Geo News quoted sources as saying that despite the court’s order, the Imran Khan-led government plans to not hold the vote on the no-confidence motion today.
Is this the plan to postpone voting?
Fawad Chaudhry has said that the members of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have been instructed to hold long debates in the House. In such a situation, the polling can be postponed due to paucity of time.
Experts with knowledge of Pakistan’s constitution have told that voting should be held on the no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan today. In case of non-voting, the Speaker of the House can be charged with contempt of court.
