New Delhi. After the change of power in Punjab, the arrest of farmers has started. This blame of the Government is falling on those farmers who have not returned the loans of the Agriculture Development Banks. Under this action of Bhagwant Mann’s government, arrest warrants of 2 thousand farmers have been prepared in the state. Some of them are new warrants, while some old warrants have been renewed. The government has to recover a total of 3200 crores from these 71 thousand loanee farmers. Farmer organizations have erupted as soon as they came to know about the arrest of the farmers, due to which they have warned the government of protest. However, all government officials have kept silence on this issue. Kheti Vikas Bank Firozpur arrested Bakshish Singh, a farmer loanee of 11 lakhs from Basti Ramwada.
However, after the arrest, Bakshish Singh said in writing that he would repay the loan in a month. He was not arrested after this written letter given by him. Apart from this, farmer Somnath of Kheti Development Bank Jalalabad was also arrested, who had a loan of Rs 12 lakh. When he paid Rs 6.27 lakh, he was released.
A total of 60 thousand farmers have been found defaulters in Punjab, on whom loans of 2300 crores are pending. Preparations are being made to recover Rs 1150 crore from them strictly. Let us tell you, in the last season, banks were able to recover only Rs 200 crore. At the same time, United Samaj Morcha leader Balbir Rajewal said that the AAP government has provided this exemption to the employees, under section 67A, to cooperative institutions for recovery of loans of cooperative banks. Significantly, this section was suspended during the Barnala government. He said that he will not sit silent, he will raise his voice against it.
