The date of Punjab Assembly elections has been changed by the Election Commission and now instead of 14 February, voting will be held on 20 February. Earlier, the date of voting was fixed on February 14 by the Election Commission. However, in view of Ravidas Jayanti, different political parties had demanded to postpone the elections. Accepting this demand of political parties, the Election Commission has changed the date of election.
Let us inform that Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Chhani, Aam Aadmi Party, BJP and Akali Dal had appealed to the Election Commission to postpone the elections. Everyone had appealed, many people go to Banaras to celebrate the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Ravidasji on 16th February. In such a situation, he leaves two to five days before. All the parties had appealed to keep this in mind. Chief Minister Channi said that between February 10 and 16, a large number of scheduled caste devotees can go to Banaras from the state. In this case voting can take place.
In view of the demand of all the parties, the Election Commission called a meeting to extend the date, in which it was decided to change the date of the election. However, there has been no change in the date of counting of votes. Voting will be held on March 10, the earlier fixed date.
