New Delhi. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that he will visit the world’s highest battlefield Siachen on March 24 and celebrate Holi with the armed forces personnel deployed there. This festival of colors will be celebrated on 24-25 March.
Singh posted on social media platform ‘X’, “On March 24, I will be at Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield. Looking forward to celebrating the festival of Holi with the armed forces personnel posted there.”
Siachen Glacier, located at an altitude of about 20,000 feet in the Karakoram Range, is known as the world’s highest militarized area, where soldiers have to battle frostbite and strong winds.
Avalanches and landslides are common on the glacier during winter and temperatures can drop below minus 60 degrees Celsius.
