After the crushing defeat of the Congress in five state elections, the party’s troubles are increasing continuously. The disgruntled camp within the party is expressing displeasure with the party high command through frequent meetings. On Wednesday, once again G-23 members held a meeting at the house of Ghulam Nabi Azad. Shashi Tharoor has also participated in this meeting. With Tharoor joining the G-23 group, the difficulties of the high command may increase.
On Wednesday evening, G-23 members ran to Ghulam Nabi Azad’s house for a dinner meeting. This meeting is also considered more important because the Congress Working Committee had a marathon meeting of five hours on Sunday. Those who attended the meeting at Azad’s house included Kapil Sibal, Shashi Tharoor, Anand Sharma, Manish Tewari, Bhupinder Hooda, Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Prithviraj Chavan, Raj Babbar, PJ Kurien and Mani Shankar Aiyar. Earlier, G-23 members had also met on the day of election results and in one voice demanded a full-time president of the party.
Shashi Tharoor, who is considered very close to the Gandhi family, is undoubtedly a big deal to attend the G-23 meeting. Earlier today, Shashi Tharoor had made his intentions clear by tweeting. He wrote, “I have learned a lot from my mistakes. Now thinking to move on.”
The meeting was to be held at Sibal’s house.
It is being told that the meeting of G-23 members was earlier to be held at Kapil Sibal’s house. But after Sibal’s statement of ‘Sab ki Congress’ last day, the place of meeting was chosen at Ghulam Nabi Azad’s house. G-23 members have tried to send a message to the party high command that they are not supporting Sibal’s statement by meeting at Azad’s house instead of Sibal. Let us inform that Sibal had said in an interview that he would continue to fight for ‘Sab Ki Congress’ from ‘Ghar Ki Congress’ till his last breath.
Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka had offered to resign
Earlier, senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had confirmed that Sonia Gandhi had offered the resignation of herself and her children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi while addressing the leaders at the Congress Working Committee meeting held on Sunday. But it was unanimously rejected by the Congress leaders.
