New Delhi. After the notification of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was issued by the Home Ministry, Home Minister Amit Shah has now issued the rules for its implementation. Along with this, Amit Shah has also presented a form for obtaining citizenship. The Indian government will start granting Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants – Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians – who came from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before 31 December 2014.
According to the instructions issued by the Home Ministry, non-Muslims migrating from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will first have to prove their residence in any one of these three countries. For this, they will need to provide documents like passport, birth certificate, educational certificates from those countries, any documents or licenses issued by the respective governments, land documents, or any other papers that prove that they are from Pakistan, There are persecuted non-Muslim refugees from Bangladesh, or Afghanistan.

During this process, applicants for citizenship must also show their visa and immigration entry into India before 31 December 2014. Additionally, they can submit documents such as registration certificates or residence permits issued by foreign authorities as proof. Documents issued by Foreigner Registration Officer (FRO) or Foreigner Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) will also be accepted as proof.
