Ramesh was released from Taloja jail on 2nd of March this month.
Investigating officer API Datta Patil said Ramesh was arrested for allegedly stealing a gold chain from a 56-year-old real estate agent by luring him. The complainant had told that he was going from Byculla railway station towards BMC’s E ward office in Madanpura, when he was stopped by Ramesh. After this, Ramesh had praised the gold chain by seducing him in his words. Then stole the chain on the pretext of seeing the design.
When Ramesh left, the complainant realized that his chain was missing. Thereafter an FIR was lodged by him. The complainant had told that his gold chain worth Rs 1.2 lakh was lost. Then several teams were formed and the footage of over 50 CCTV cameras was analysed; In which the complainant had recognized the accused in a frame.
According to API Datta Patil, in the next course of investigation, the photo of the accused was posted in the police group. Meanwhile, a policeman in the group told that this accused was arrested by Shivaji Park police in September last year and was in jail. Then he was released from Taloja Jail on 2 March and he also carried out a crime on 8 March.
According to the police, Ramesh had committed three crimes after being released on bail. After this the Agripada police team caught him. During interrogation, Ramesh told that he is the leader of such a gang, who seduce people and take away the goods. Ramesh, who dropped out in class IV, has two wives and four children. Ramesh had taken a loan for his release and used to commit crimes only to repay it.
