The condition of government schools in Gujarat is very bad. According to the government report, there are 700 schools in Gujarat, where there is only one teacher to teach. In the last two years, 86 schools have been closed and 491 schools have been merged.
There is only one teacher in the 700 government-run primary schools in Gujarat. Who teaches all the students from class 1 to 8. The government has given this information in response to a question in the assembly. There are 100 such schools in Kutch district, 74 in Mahisagar tribal district and 59 in Tapi.
It is not that such schools exist only in rural areas. There are a large number of such schools in urban areas as well. There are 43 schools in Surat, four in Ahmedabad, 38 in Vadodara and only one teacher in 16 schools in Rajkot. On their shoulders is the burden of education to management. Kheda and Bhavnagar are the only districts that do not have a single such school.
The state government said that this situation has arisen due to retirement, death and transfer of teachers. The government has said that the required number of teachers will be appointed at the earliest. Congress MLA Lalit Kagthara claimed during Question Hour on Monday that there is not a single teacher in Ghanshyamgarh village of Halwar taluka, the native village of BJP vice-president Jayanti Kavadia and the local school has been closed.
Responding to various questions raised during Question Hour on Monday, the government said 86 government primary schools in Gujarat have been closed and 491 others merged in the last two years. Most of the schools are closed in Junagadh district.
With this response of the government, the opposition has now become an attacker, and is targeting the BJP government regarding the Gujarat model. Congress says how can a single teacher handle the whole school?
