The BJP returned to power by winning 255 out of 403 seats in Uttar Pradesh, securing 41.29 per cent vote share. The Samajwadi Party led by former CM Akhilesh Yadav came second in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections securing 32.06 per cent votes with 111 seats. The two other major parties – Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) one and the Indian National Congress won just two seats.
