Vehicle theft gangs are active in different states across the country. These gangs carry out the whole work in a very clever manner. In the same sequence, the Detection of Crime Branch of Ahmedabad Police on Wednesday arrested two, including a minor, for allegedly stealing autorickshaws and two wheelers in the city.
According to the police, the crime branch was monitoring these people for several days. Based on information, accused Yasin Sheikh (22) and a minor boy were caught by the crime branch team from a stolen autorickshaw near Naroda Patiya. After apprehending the accused, he was interrogated and he told that he is involved in such activities. Along with this, he has carried out theft in different areas of the city.
DCB Ahmedabad’s Assistant Commissioner of Police DP Chudasama said that the investigation was conducted after the crime branch took these accused into custody. In which the accused told that in the last 3-4 months they have stolen more than 25 autorickshaws in Ahmedabad. The accused also told during interrogation that apart from autorickshaws, they were also involved in theft of two wheelers.
Assistant Commissioner of Police DP Chudasama said that, along with the accused, we have recovered 21 autorickshaws and five motorcycles. All these vehicles were stolen from different areas of Ahmedabad like Krishnanagar, Ramol, Naroda, Ellis Bridge, Sarkhej and Sardarnagar. According to the police, after interrogation, two, including a minor, were arrested for allegedly stealing autorickshaws and two-wheelers in the city.
The Crime Branch police of Ahmedabad Police revealed that these accused used to conduct recce of vehicles in different parts of the city earlier. Then duplicate keys were used to steal the vehicles. After this the accused used to make money by selling these vehicles at cheap prices in the outskirts of Ahmedabad. The accused used to do this whole work so cleverly that no one was aware of it for so many days. However, when complaints of theft of vehicles increased from different places, the police increased surveillance to nab the accused.
