Samajwadi leader Shivpal Singh Yadav took oath as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. After this he also reached to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This meeting with the Chief Minister lasted for about 20 minutes. However, he did not reach his nephew Akhilesh Yadav’s meeting held in the afternoon itself. This is seen as a sign of tension in the opposition alliance led by the Samajwadi Party.
Shivpal said that very soon I will talk about everything and tell everything. He contested the assembly elections from Jaswantnagar seat of Etawah on the symbol of Samajwadi Party. He did not attend the meeting held between Akhilesh Yadav and SP allies in Lucknow on Tuesday itself. Earlier, he had not even attended the oath ceremony of the state assembly.
On Wednesday, Shivpal was accompanied by three other MLAs, Fateh Bahadur Singh from Campiarganj (Gorakhpur), Surendra Maithani from Govindnagar (Kanpur) and Ashish Kumar Singh from Bilgram-Mallawa (Hardoi). However, the assembly officials did not say anything about his late taking oath. Six MLAs, including SP’s Azam Khan and Kairana MLA Nahid Hasan, have not yet taken oath.
It should be noted that Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav had decided to improve their relationship just before the elections, after being separated since 2017. Due to mutual estrangement, Shivpal Yadav formed his party before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. This time Shivpal has won for the sixth time from his traditional Jaswantnagar seat on the SP symbol.
Their relationship soured after Shivpal Yadav was not invited to the meeting of SP MLAs on March 24, though he had contested on cycle and even campaigned for Akhilesh in the Karhal assembly constituency. Shivpal himself had expressed displeasure over this.
