Last Thursday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had announced the construction of 300 houses in Mumbai for the MLAs of the state. The Chief Minister had said that we want all the MLAs of Maharashtra to have a house in Mumbai. After this announcement of the Chief Minister, questions started being raised on this decision of the government. Now on this, Maharashtra Home Construction Minister Jitendra Awhad has given a clarification and has told the complete plan of the government.
Price to be paid for the house: Tweeting on the whole matter, Jitendra Awhad said, “There is a lot of ruckus about giving houses to MLAs, I want to make it clear that houses will not be given to any MLA free of cost. For this, the MLA who takes the house will have to pay the cost of the land + construction cost (estimated cost is Rs 70 lakh).
Scheme for Rural MLAs: State Home Works Minister Jitendra Awhad had told the Legislative Assembly on Thursday that 300 HIG flats would be constructed in Goregaon, Mumbai through MHADA for MLAs coming from rural areas of the state.
