Srinagar, October 23 (IANS) | Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision regarding Jammu and Kashmir is to make the Union Territory not a taker area of the country, but a giver. Shah told a gathering of youth in Srinagar on Saturday afternoon, “Before August 5, 2019, what 70 years of independence has given to Jammu and Kashmir – 87 Assembly, 6 Lok Sabha seats and three families. Shah said, I do not need to mention the names of those families. He also said that elections are to be held in the state. Shah said that there will be a good demarcation so that youths get a chance in Kashmir, elections will also be held after the demarcation and Jammu and Kashmir will get statehood again. “Whoever wants to disturb the peace of Jammu and Kashmir, we will deal with them sternly,” he said.
The Union Home Minister said that it is Narendra Modi who decided that while the Ayushman Bharat scheme entitles weaker sections of the society to medical treatment worth Rs 5 lakh in other parts of the country, the same facility would be available in every Jammu and Kashmir region. should be available to citizens. Shah said it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that Jammu and Kashmir should become a giver rather than a taker of the country. He said, during the 70 years till 2019, only 500 medical seats were available and after 2019, this number increased to 1,120 and will soon double. He further said, from 70 years to 2019 this did not happen because those people were not interested in development, they only did politics.
Shah said that most of the national flagship programs have achieved their goals in Jammu and Kashmir. Swachh Bharat Mission has achieved its full goal and today every household in J&K has a toilet. He said that 100 per cent households in Jammu and Kashmir have electricity and LPG connections. Talking about the security situation, the Union Home Minister said, peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir will be dealt with most strongly. “No concession of any kind will be taken from such forces,” he said.
He said that the employment processes have been made completely transparent, in which qualification is the only way of employment. Old age pension and other financial assistance schemes are now implemented through direct bank transfer and there is no question of any middleman intervention in these schemes. Earlier, addressing an apex security review meeting, Amit Shah asked various security forces to show full coordination and make efforts to end terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
