Jaipur, November 11 (IANS) | For the first time in the history of the country, local people in Pali district of Rajasthan saw a rare pink leopard in Ranakpur area. This region is situated in the Aravalli hills. Officials confirmed that this is the first time the ‘pink leopard’ has been sighted in the country.Experts say that the strawberry color of this leopard can be due to some genetic condition.
In 2012, a leopard with pink fur spots was seen in South Africa. It was seen again in the year 2019.Forest officials confirmed that local people in Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh have claimed to have seen the ‘pink leopard’ several times in the past. However, recently a large cat with strawberry colored fur was photographed in this area.
Kumbhalgarh forest area is located in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan, which is spread over 600 square kilometer. Kumbhalgarh is home to Indian leopard, wolf, striped hyena, golden jackal and sambar among other species.
