During the Uttar Pradesh assembly election campaign, Abbas Ansari, son of mafia Mukhtar Ansari, had given a statement regarding transfer-posting, which was discussed a lot. Taking cognizance of the matter, the police registered a case. However, Abbas Ansari has got relief from Allahabad High Court and his arrest has been stayed. Abbas Ansari had filed a petition seeking quashing of the case.
The Division Bench of the Allahabad High Court, while hearing, stayed the arrest of Abbas Ansari in this case. Along with this, the High Court has also sought an affidavit from the Uttar Pradesh government and the Election Commission in this entire case. A bench of Sunita Agarwal of Allahabad High Court has given time till April 27 to the UP government and the Election Commission to file an affidavit in this matter.
Talking to Aaj Tak news channel, Abbas Ansari’s lawyer Upendra Upadhyay said, “After hearing all the facts, the High Court stayed Abbas’s arrest. The High Court asked the UP government and the Election Commission to file counter affidavits. In this case, our side was that it is not a criminal act and the police is unnecessarily harassing it. The Election Commission took suo motu action in the matter and imposed a 24-hour ban on Abbas Ansari from campaigning.
What was the matter: During the UP assembly election campaign, Abbas Ansari had said that when I was coming from Lucknow, at that time I had come to Akhilesh Yadav after deciding that there would be no transfer posting for 6 months after the formation of the government. First there will be accounting, then there will be transfer posting.
Abbas was booked under Sections 171G and 506 of the IPC for violating the code of conduct at Mau Kotwali after Abbas Ansari’s statement during the election. At the same time, after the election results, the investigation started on March 13 in the case of violation of the code of conduct and the section for disturbing communal harmony was also added against Abbas Ansari. Abbas Ansari has been elected MLA from Mau Sadar assembly seat from Omprakash Rajbhar’s party Subhasp.
