Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut was furious over the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) raid on a company owned by the brother-in-law of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He made several allegations against the BJP and compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Taking action against Uddhav’s brother-in-law Sridhar Patankar, the ED sealed 11 flats. Their cost is being said to be around Rs 6.5 crore. The counter-offensive has intensified regarding this.
Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut targeted Prime Minister Modi over this and said, “Russia-Ukraine war is still going on. It is being discussed all over the world. People like us are facing war every day. There is a person like Putin in Delhi. He is continuously firing missiles at us every day. These missiles are sometimes being fired through ED, sometimes through CBI and sometimes through Income Tax. But still we will not give up. When we are saying that we are saved from this, the atmosphere of the country has changed. ,
Earlier on Tuesday, Raut had hit out at the BJP-led central government, saying, “The people of Maharashtra know very well about the Thackeray family… This is a dangerous start to dictatorship. Winning in four kingdoms does not make you the ruler of the country. We are ready to go to jail, but we are also ready to fight for freedom for the democracy of this country.”
Raut had also said, “The ED seems to have closed its office in other big states like Gujarat. Everything is happening in Maharashtra. Mamta Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee is also being harassed. But neither Bengal will bow nor Maharashtra will break. He further said that the relationship of Shridhar Madhav Patankar is not limited only to the CM of Maharashtra. He is a member of our family. Their relationship is not limited to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray. ED is taking coercive action in states where BJP is not in power.
NCP leader Sharad Pawar had also said that central agencies were being misused for political interests. He had said “Central agencies are being misused for political interests. Till a few years back, most people did not know about ED, but today it is being misused so much that even in villages people know about it.”
