The people of Uttar Pradesh have given full majority to the BJP. Yogi Adityanath and SP president Akhilesh Yadav were also in the fray in the 2022 assembly elections. Both the leaders were contesting assembly elections for the first time. Yogi Adityanath was in the fray from Gorakhpur urban seat while Akhilesh Yadav was in the fray from Karhal seat of Mainpuri district. Both the leaders have registered a bumper victory in their first assembly elections.
Akhilesh registers historic victory from Karhal
Akhilesh Yadav was in the fray from Karhal assembly seat and BJP had fielded Union Minister SP Singh Baghel against Akhilesh. Akhilesh Yadav defeated SP Singh Baghel by more than 66 thousand votes. Akhilesh Yadav got 1,47,237 votes while BJP’s SP Singh Baghel got 80,455 votes. Akhilesh Yadav got 60% of the total votes cast. Kuldeep Narayan of BSP also got 15643 votes. Akhilesh Yadav won the Karhal assembly seat with the biggest margin ever.
BJP candidate SP Singh Baghel had claimed that he would defeat Akhilesh Yadav. Big leaders of BJP had also given full force to this seat. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had also reached this seat to campaign for the elections.

Yogi Adityanath was contesting assembly elections for the first time from Gorakhpur city seat. In front of him were Chandrashekhar Ravana of the Azad Samaj Party and Subhavati Shukla from the Samajwadi Party. Yogi Adityanath won from Gorakhpur city seat by a record 1 lakh 2 thousand votes. Yogi Adityanath got a total of 1,62,961 votes. While Subhavati Shukla of Samajwadi Party, who came second, got 60,069 votes.
Chandrashekhar Ravana, who was claiming victory, could not even save his bail against Yogi Adityanath. Chandrashekhar Ravana got 7458 votes. Let us tell you that Chandrashekhar Ravana had campaigned a lot against Yogi Adityanath and talks were also going on about his alliance with the Samajwadi Party. However, the alliance could not be done, after which the Azad Samaj Party decided to contest the elections alone.
