After the crushing defeat in five states, the era of demanding punishment has started in the Congress. Congress leader Harish Rawat told a news channel that, “I think we should review things and after reviewing, if the lapse is done by the in-charge, then the in-charge should be punished. Whoever made the mistake, they should be punished. But if we say that everyone should resign, then it will not be right. Priyanka Gandhi ji has worked hard, the whole world is witness to it. I think no better election can be fought in UP than this.
as well as the Harish Rawat Harish Rawat said through Facebook post that, “I have taken the responsibility of defeat of all the candidates on my head and everyone has the right to vent anger on me, to lie. Shri Pritam Singh ji said a very accurate thing that unless you do not work in any field for 5 years, then you should not reach there to contest elections. Somebody sows the crop, someone else reaches to reap. This is not right.”
Regarding not contesting the election from Ramnagar, Harish Rawat wrote that, “In the Screening Committee meeting, it was advised that I should contest the election otherwise a wrong message would be sent. Following this suggestion, I expressed my desire to contest from Ramnagar. Ramnagar was not a new area for me. I wanted to contest elections from there in 2017. It was also the party’s decision to make me contest from Ramnagar and it was also the party’s decision to make me contest from Lalkuan assembly constituency instead of Ramnagar. I wanted to contest from Ramnagar itself.”
Harish Rawat should take retirement: On the other hand, BJP leader Banshidhar Bhagat took a jibe at the defeat of the Congress and said that the time has come for Harish Rawat to retire. Banshidhar Bhagat reminded Harish Rawat of his old statement and said that it was Harish Rawat who had said that either he would become the Chief Minister or he would sit at home. They should stick to their word.
Let us inform that in the CWC meeting also, Congress President Sonia Gandhi offered her resignation. Sonia Gandhi said that if we are responsible for the defeat, then I, Rahul and Priyanka are ready to give any sacrifice for the party. It was decided in the meeting that Sonia Gandhi would continue as the Congress President.
