CM Yogi Adityanath, who talked about 80 vs 20 at the very beginning of the election, was not voted for by Muslims or very few people showed interest in supporting him. However, at the end of the election, he even said that he loves Muslims and he is also very fond of them. But even after this, Yogi could not garner the support of Muslims.
CM Yogi, who was a five-time MP from Gorakhpur, had never contested the assembly elections before. He went to the Legislative Council after becoming the CM in 2017. Although this time there was speculation of him contesting from Ayodhya, but later he was given ticket from Gorakhpur city itself. He got 1 lakh 65 thousand 499 votes. Yogi defeated Subhavati Shukla of SP by a margin of over one lakh votes.
It was the miracle of Yogi that there are nine assembly seats in his stronghold. BJP won all the seats here. Seeing the figures, it is clear that Yogi got votes from everywhere. But there is another side to the picture as well. There are also five booths of Chaksa Hussain, a Muslim-dominated area, where voters did not show much interest in the CM. Here CM has got the least votes. So few that the number could barely reach the tens.
In booth number 267 of Chaksa Hussain, Yogi could get only 9 votes. There were 1016 voters here. He got 15 votes from booth number 217. There are 1166 voters here. He got 18 votes in booth number 264 while there are 998 voters. He could get 25 votes in booth number 218. There are 1144 voters here. Booth number 219 got 30 votes. The total voters here were 1127.
In the booths where Yogi got maximum votes, 487 in Daudpur I booth number 349, Old Gorakhpur 470 in 252, 309 in booth number 250, 478 in booth number 281, 455 in booth number 333. According to a report, this has come to the fore in the review of BJP’s metropolitan unit.
