According to the report, Jordan deposited millions of dollars in secret Swiss accounts, while the sons of President Hosni Mubarak, who was ousted from power in Egypt during the Arab Revolution, also hid a lot of money. Similarly, there are some accounts of spy chiefs in Egypt, Jordan and Yemen, who have been accused of human rights violations as well as cooperating with the US. However, it has not been disclosed from which accounts the cash flow came in the leak.
Six accounts of King Abdullah, kept millions of dollars
The accounts of King Abdullah II of Jordan have been leaked. They have received billions of dollars in aid from the US over the years. As of 2018, this amount was estimated at $22 billion. In 2015, $224 million was deposited in one of Abdullah’s six accounts.
Abdulaziz’s account with relatives
Former Algerian President Abdulaziz Bouteflika had a shared account with several relatives in 2005. During that time there was an amount of 11 lakh dollars in it.
Two accounts of the Sultan of Oman
Oman Sultan Qaboos bin Said, who ruled for nearly five decades, had two Swiss accounts till his death in 2020, one with $126 million in 2003 and the other with $57 million in 2015.
