New Delhi. Robin Uthappa, who made a significant contribution to Indian cricket, announced his retirement from all forms of club cricket, including international cricket, on Wednesday evening, 14 September 2022. Uthappa made his debut for the Indian team in the year 2006 against England. Robin has batted in almost every order from middle order to upper order in his career. He participated in the 2007 T20 World Cup. During this, the Indian team won its title for the first time under the captaincy of former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Robin Uthappa also played a role in this victory of India. In the T20 format, Robin Uthappa played in the Indian team till the year 2015. Uthappa was also a part of many memorable victories of the Indian team. After this, he also gave proof of his brilliant batting in the IPL.
Robin Uthappa’s emotional letter
Robin Uthappa also shared a letter announcing his retirement. It read, “It has been 20 years since I played professional cricket. It has been an honor to play for my country and represent my state Karnataka. During this time there were many ups and downs, achieved a lot, entertained and made me better as a human being. Every good thing has an end. I am taking my retirement from all forms of cricket with a heavy heart. Now I will spend quality time with my family and start a new part of my life.” After this, Uthappa further thanked the family and wrote, “I will thank my parents and sister, who gave me the freedom to pursue my passion.”
It has been my greatest honor to represent my country and my state, Karnataka. However, all good things must come to an end, and with a grateful heart, I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket.

Uthappa has played a total of 46 ODIs for the Indian team and has scored a total of 934 runs in his ODI career. Apart from this, Robin has also played 13 T20 matches. During this time he made a significant contribution to Indian cricket. Ever since the IPL was organized in India, Uthappa has always been a part of some team. Earlier he played for Kolkata Knight Riders. After this he was a part of Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led team Chennai Super Kings for a few years. During this he played a total of 205 matches. He has scored 4952 runs with a strike rate of 130.
