According to the PMO, Prime Minister Modi spoke to the President of Ukraine Zelensky. The President of Ukraine briefed the Prime Minister in detail about the ongoing conflict situation in Ukraine. The Prime Minister expressed deep condolences on the loss of life and property due to the ongoing conflict.
The Prime Minister’s Office said that PM Modi reiterated his call for dialogue and an immediate end to the violence and expressed India’s willingness to contribute in every way possible to the peace efforts. The Prime Minister also conveyed to him (President of Ukraine) India’s deep concern for the safety of Indian citizens, including students present in Ukraine. He also sought the facilitation by the Ukrainian authorities for the speedy evacuation of Indian nationals.
Indian students need not panic, keep in touch with embassy: Union Minister
Union Minister Jitendra Singh assured the many students stranded in Ukraine and their families that absolutely all the students remained in touch with the embassy to avoid panic. The Union Minister tweeted, I assure to bring back the Indian students at the earliest. The Ministry of External Affairs is continuously making necessary arrangements. No one needs to panic. Get in touch with the student embassy and follow all guidelines.
At the same time, the Indian Embassy in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, has issued an advisory on Saturday appealing to its citizens not to go to the border post. The embassy said, do not visit any border post without prior coordination with the officials of the Government of India. We are working with our embassies in neighboring countries to evacuate Indian nationals.
