new Delhi. A large Russian military convoy is seen near Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv. The BBC has reported in a report that satellite images taken by an American firm have shown a large Russian military convoy has been deployed to attack Kyiv.
The convoy was last seen near Antonov Airport, northwest of Kyiv, and its movement is indicating a renewed advance towards the city.
Photographer Maxar Technologies said parts of the convoy were in nearby cities.
The BBC reported that other parts were further north, while artillery was now in firing position.
This renewed deployment has apparently been seen after the Russian military launched attacks on new targets in various parts of the country. Meanwhile, an airfield and jet engine factory in Lutsk in the northwest have been targeted.
According to Russian defense officials, there were also explosions at airfields in Ivano-Frankivsk in the south-west. One person has been reported killed in airstrikes in Dnipro, a major stronghold in central eastern Ukraine.
“Ukraine’s big cities have again come under devastating blow,” said Ukraine’s presidential adviser, Mykhailo Podolik.
He said two central heating compounds had to be shut down because of the shelling in Lutsk. “Russia’s devastating war against civilians and large cities continues,” he said.
Russian state media reported that the Ukrainian city of Volnovakha has been captured by Russian-backed separatist forces.
Although there has so far been no independent confirmation of the capture of the city, which is the northern entrance to the besieged port city of Mariupol.
