It’s been over three months since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Many cities in Ukraine have been destroyed by Putin’s troops, and some cities have been completely controlled by Russia. Ukraine’s President Jalensky may have been talking about pushing Russia back, but the reality is that now the citizens of these cities have started making Russia their own.
Russia giving passports – According to Russian news agencies, authorities in the Moscow-occupied city of Kherson in southern Ukraine on Saturday handed over Russian passports to local residents for the first time. Russia’s TASS agency said that in May 23 citizens of Kherson were given Russian passports. Officials in Kherson said that the timing of passports was chosen taking into account Russia Day.
When it was captured – It is said that at the beginning of their attack on 24 February, the Russian army had captured most of Kherson. Since then Russia has been expanding its scope here. According to the information received, Russia has now made a base for its soldiers here, from where it is continuously attacking Ukraine.
What did Ukraine say – Ukraine was shocked as soon as it came to know about giving passport. Jalensky, who has been continuously demanding weapons from Western countries, has got a big blow from this Russian move. The Ukrainian military denounced Russia’s move as a “gross violation” of its territorial integrity and said Putin’s decree was “legally void”.
What is the situation now – According to the Ukrainian government, 10,000 fighters of its army have been killed. Nearly every city in Ukraine has been destroyed by Russian bombings. Russia has also suffered heavy losses, but its edge has been heavy in this war from the beginning. Ukrainian and British officials warned on Saturday that Russian forces could use large-scale and dangerous weapons.
