Former India rapid chess champion Anvesh is stuck in Ukraine. They are alone in their apartment and are very scared. Anvesh has been living here since 2012, but it has become difficult for him to stay here after the recent Russian attack. All flights from Ukraine have been cancelled. So it is not possible for them to come out. 30-year-old Anvesh is studying gastroenterology in a hospital in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. They were supposed to return to India in March, but before that Russia attacked Ukraine and now it is difficult for them to come out.
Talking to PTI, he said that Russian soldiers have attacked here. He had never thought of such situations. Anvesh had won the National Rapid Chess competition in 2017.
Four thousand Indians have returned to India
On Thursday, India’s foreigner Sachin Harshvardhan Shringla said that the government will do everything possible to bring out all Indian citizens living in Ukraine. He told that there were about 20 thousand Indian citizens in Ukraine and four thousand of them have returned to their country. Anvesh told that the situation in Ukraine at present has never happened before.
Hope for help from Indian Ambassador
Anvesh’s family lives in Bhubaneswar, Odisha and his family members have been calling him back to India for a long time. He tried to get out of Ukraine before but didn’t get tickets. At the same time, his senior officers said that once the situation becomes normal. After that they can go to their country. Meanwhile, Russia attacked Ukraine. Now they don’t know what is going to happen to them. Now he is expecting help from the Indian Ambassador.
