The Supreme Court has expressed concern over the cases of making fake medical certificates for compensation of Rs 50,000 to be received from Corona on death. The court indicated that it may order the CAG to investigate the matter.
Earlier on March 7, Justice M.R. Shah and Justice B.V. Nagarathna said that there should be some time limit for the claims seeking compensation. “It is a matter of concern that fake certificates are being given by the doctors,” the bench said. This is a very serious matter. Please suggest how can we curb the issue of fake certificates being issued by doctors. It can take away someone’s real rights.
SC unhappy with state governments for not giving compensation
In January this year, the SC had expressed displeasure with the state governments for not giving compensation to the kin of the deceased in cases of death due to COVID-19. The court issued a show-cause notice to the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh asking why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him. The bench asked the state legal services authorities to contact the families of those who lost their lives due to corona and to register and distribute compensation claims in the same manner as was done during the 2001 Gujarat earthquake.
